Foreign Minister Linkevičius meets his counterparts from UK and Hungary
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with the UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó on the margins of an informal meeting of EU foreign affairs ministers in Tallinn, the capital city of the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The bilateral meeting was held at the initiative of the UK Foreign Secretary Johnson. Lithuania’s Foreign Minister and Johnson discussed the situation in Ukraine and the possibility of provision of financial support for Ukraine. The Foreign Minister Linkevičius informed his counterpart about the outcomes of his visit to Israel. The interlocutors agreed to continue to cooperate closely on a range of important foreign policy issues, particularly on the Eastern Partnership.
Linkevičius and the Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjártó signed an agreement on the exchange and mutual protection of classified information. The bilateral meeting discussed Hungary’s priorities during the period of its Presidency of the Visegrád Group, the planned rotation of the Hungarian Air Force at NATO’s Air Policing mission in Šiauliai in 2019, as well as cooperation on EU issues, the challenge of migration, and important energy issues.
