Ambassador A. Kalindra Presents Credentials to the President of Albania
On 24 September, Lithuanian Ambassador Andrius Kalindra presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj. During the meeting with the President, the parties discussed bilateral relations between Lithuania and Albania, European security challenges, and Albania’s integration into the European Union (EU). Lithuania and Albania are like-minded partners on key issues: both countries strongly support the rules-based international order, the strengthening of democratic institutions, and respect for human rights, and are united in condemning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
Lithuania seeks to further strengthen its political dialogue with Albania. An intensive programme of bilateral interparliamentary engagement is planned for the near future, along with the sharing of Lithuania’s experience as Albania works towards completing its negotiations on EU membership.
Lithuania firmly supports Albania’s European perspective and the reforms being implemented by the country. As Lithuania prepares for its Presidency of the Council of the European Union, it will work to ensure that the EU enlargement process, based on the individual merits and progress of each candidate country, remains an important priority on the EU agenda.
