Forum“ Investing in Global Crossroads : Where East Meets West (Industry-Logistics-Finance)“, November 24-25, 2011, Šiauliai, Lithuania

Šiauliai City Municipality implementing the projects funded by the European Union and the state, strives to attract qualitative direct foreign investments. The Šiauliai Industrial Park with an area of 218 ha aiming at development of industry, business and logistics is the first industrial park in Lithuania run by the local authority that invited investors.

Moreover, Šiauliai City Municipality implements the project on Šiauliai Public Logistics Center with the ambition to increase the attractiveness of the Šiauliai Industrial Park , to promote the competitiveness not only of Šiauliai region but the whole Lithuanian as well. Both projects are funded from the European Structural Funds for 2007-2013 and the municipal fund. The Government of the Republic of Lithuania has recognized these projects of significant importance to the state.

Total investment in the Šiauliai Industrial Park, the Logistics Center and nearby located Šiauliai Airport amounts EUR 40 million. Considering the economic growth of the regions last year Šiauliai City Municipality became the member of the East-West Transport Corridor Association (EWTC ), linking the Southern Baltic Sea Region of the European Union (Denmark, Germany, Lithuania, Sweden), the Kaliningrad Region of the Russian Federation and countries behind (Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, China and other countries in the Black Sea Region and Asia).

The Baltic States in general and Lithuania in particular serve not only as a geographical transit point for Eastern and Western economies but also as a crossroad, where different economies and cultures meet. Such environment creates strong and specific profit opportunities for both investors and the hosting country, where the excellent understanding and tight cooperation between the two is a key factor to success.

Proceeding the presentation of the northern Lithuania region as an attractive place for investments as well implementing the strategic objectives of the city, region and Lithuania, Šiauliai City Municipality in association with Šiauliai Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts and other partners organizes the investors forum

The forum invites business, foreign experts, investors, bankers and government institutions to share international and local best practice on successful implementation of investment projects in the international economic transit countries. The forum invites as well the foreign representatives and representatives of the Lithuanian diplomatic missions.

The forum will cover main aspects of investment in industrial and logistics projects, including related strategies, risks, opportunities, funding sources and techniques as well as the best practices to be followed by the governmental and municipal institutions of the hosting country. The event will combine the exchange of knowledge and experience as well as practical business to business meetings and presentation of opportunities at hands reach.
