Lithuanian ambassador at a meeting of Sviatlana Tsihanouskaya with ambassadors in Athens: "The widest possible support of the international community is important"

Lithuanian ambassador Rolandas Kačinskas invited on May 13 ambassadors of Chile, France and Mexico to meet with Sviatlana Tsihanouskaya, the leader of the democratic Belarus, who was paying a visit to Greece.

At the meeting ambasasdor Kačinskas underlined that the struggle of the Belarusian people for democracy and human rights should be supported by the widest possible international community.

"While the change in Belarus can be brought by no one else but the people of Belarus themselves, we, the free world, have a moral duty to support them by sending a clear message that we stand with democratic Belarus, are ready to help civil society, and see the future of Belarus closely linked to Europe. Seeing the Acropolis in the background and being in a city that is the cradle of democracy, let it all remind us that democracy is not only a theoretical concept, but also a practical matter that requires not only words but also action to defend it,"  introducing Sviatlana Tsihanouskaya to his fellow ambassadors Kačinskas said.
