The opening of the Lithuanian Honorary Consulate in Piraeus
On February 23rd, Lithuania officially opened its Honorary Consulate in Piraeus, which has jurisdiction in the regional unit Piraeus, the region of Attica and the Cyclades. Mr. Dimitris Vassilakis was appointed the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania. The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, Agnė Bilotaitė, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy of the Hellenic Republic, Ioannis Plakiotakis and H.E. Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Hellenic Republic, Lina Skerstonaitė.
“We are delighted that Lithuania has managed to find such an excellent Honorary Consul in Piraeus - Dimitris Vassilakis - who is a well-known and active businessman and a great friend of Lithuania. We hope that with the help of the Honorary Consul, cooperation
between Lithuania and Greece will become even more active in various areas, especially in shipping. Therefore, it is very symbolic that the official opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate takes place on board of a ship,” said H.E. Ambassador Skerstonaitė. Lithuania has three Honorary Consulates in Greece - Crete, Thessaloniki and Piraeus.
